PRAYING FOR OTHERS:

“Before they call I will answer, while they are yet speaking I will hear.” (Isaiah 65:24).

God reads the prayers of our heart even before they have been formed into words or vocalized by our mouth. The God of love hears our heart and blesses those we love. The God of love lifts the needs from our heart and takes them into the heart of heaven. And we, we stand amazed, at the miracles that unfold. (taken from Introduction to Praying for Others by Renée Miller)

If you have prayers you would like to raise on behalf of friends & family of LUMC, please contact the church or email MurphyGoMets@Suddenlink.net.  If you wish for individuals on our Prayer list to receive a card or email from the church letting them know our congregation is praying for them, please include their address and/or email ID along with your request.

PRAYER BLANKET MINISTRY:

In partnership with The Rock UMC, Leander UMC participates in a community ministry to make prayer-based blankets, lap blankets, shawls, chemo hats, baby hats, socks, mittens, etc... for anyone who literally needs to be covered in prayer. Ways you can help us grow this ministry are:

- Pray for us as we pray for others. For those who don't like knitting/crocheting/sewing alone at home, a group meets every Monday evening at The Rock UMC Office from 7-8:00 pm to work on these items. Take a moment to stop and pray for this ministry during that hour each week.

- If you know how to knit, crochet, sew, or quilt, you can make these items at home. You can download free patterns at http://www.lionbrand.com/.  If you need supplies, contact Ruth Murphy.

- If you don't know how to knit or crochet and would like to learn, there are people willing to teach; contact Ruth Murphy (below) or Ricki Davies (rdavies@ecpi.com)

- Donations of yarn, especially soft, inexpensive yarn are helpful. If you see some at garage sales, or in your closets, please let us know or pick it up for us.

- Provide names of people who may need to be "covered in prayer" and their circumstances, if possible, to guide us in our prayers. This will be kept confidential as desired.
